Barack Who? Sarah Palin Keeps Them Pissy

MccainpalinNearly 48 hours after the amazingly well-organized announcement that Arizona Senator John McCain made the move that signaled real "change", asking Alaska GOVERNOR Sarah Palin to be his running mate in his bid for the White House, the spotlight has been decidedly swung away from the smug mug of Illinois Senator Barack Obama. It must be awfully chilly in the shade of her shadow for a man who has been able to feed at the trough of adoration for the past couple of years. This friends, is why he and his minions are attacking this woman in such a vile way.

Even my mother made a comment yesterday that I just could not believe. I was so shocked, I was speechless. For months now, talk of the election has been off-limits for most of my family and friends because that's the only way to keep the peace, but yesterday morning, I woke up intending to watch Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Then, I was going to take a shower and get dressed and then head out to do some shopping. But, the phone was ringing off the hook with folks wanting to discuss, what else? The election. Hillary friendlies and Obamazoids alike were calling. I should have just ignored the calls, but once I started answering it seemed as if there was no turning back. So I imparted whatever wisdom I could and offered my opinions and responses to the questions as they came fast and furious.

When I was done, I decided to make one call myself, to my mother, before I finally settled in to watch the movie. We chatted up and she asked me what I had planned for the day when I started telling her how so much of my morning had been whisked away having conversations about Sarah Palin. I started, carefully, telling her how I thought she seemed like a strong woman who could do the job of Vice President easily and then I mentioned that I thought it was touching that she and her husband decided to have their little baby even though they knew he would have Down's Syndrome. To my utter amazement, my mother said to me in such a horrible tone, "Aw, that baby probably had Down's Syndrome because she was so old when she had him."

Damn, just writing that makes me shiver because I knew that wasn't my mother. For sure, studies have shown that babies born to older mothers are more susceptible to certain illnesses, but that had nothing to do with my saying that it was touching that Palin decided to have her baby. There are 43 and 44 year old women who have perfectly healthy babies and my mother is well aware of that fact. Her venomous comment was due to the fact that she knows that Palin poses a humongous threat to the Obama/Biden ticket. The overwhelming majority of Obama supporters know it too.

We are in for a wild ride in the coming weeks as men and women on the Obama side unleash some of the most hate-filled attacks against a woman who has done nothing to deserve them. She hasn't been hanging out with homegrown terrorists or leaving her constituents to languish in poor housing after she helped developers make off with pockets filled with filthy lucre. We haven't heard her trashing the folks in Alaska, assuming that they eat cold Popeye's chicken in the morning or saying she's embarrassed that more Americans don't know how to speak French or any other language.  We haven't heard about her being good friends with a newly convicted felon who will be sentenced the week before election day. A friend who helped her get a grand mansion in a shady deal.  No, we haven't heard any of those things about GOVERNOR Sarah Palin. Yet, she's vying for the VICE Presidential spot and is getting more scrutiny than the one with all of those negatives and less experience than she who is vying for the PRESIDENCY. It's a sad day in America indeed and the world is watching as the "boys" prepare to try to walk all over yet another more than qualified woman. Maybe the Iraqis will send some troops here to liberate us. Damn. --SUGAR

I am excited about this choice. McCain has galantly given us hope and a choice now that Hillary is out of the race. I look forward to the convention and the debates so that I can see clearly where she stands on issues.

The blogs and articles have been vile in regards to Palin. I have never seen so many derogatory terms used on a woman just for being a woman, a mother of five, having a career, and especially for having a Down's Syndrome child. When did the democratic party became so prejudiced, mean and arrogant. If this is hope and change, I don't want no part of it.

The Democratic party is "downright mean" these days.

And "for the first time in my life, I am proud" of the Republican party.

Still don't agree with them on a lot, but McCain showed some damn balls, and a desire to get beyond Bush and do some good, when he picked this strong woman.

"...Maybe the Iraqis will send some troops here to liberate us. Damn."

Now that's funny. Humor in top form today, Sugar.

Right with you, Sugar.

My own mom went off the rails. I was talking about Palin for WEEKS and then when she was selected, my mom (an O supporter) went absolutely nuts. Screaming, saying she was another "f***** Republican" and a "whore."

I'd been reading on Palin for weeks; she'd known about her for 15 minutes and based on me.

"She doesn't know what the VP job is!"
"No, mom. I watched that interview BEFORE today. She basically said she didn't want to be ceremonial window dressing."

Off. the. rails.

And the good ol' Blogger Boyz are more than happy with their sexism and grotesque charges against this person of whom they've seen ONE -- ONE! -- stump speech, if that.

The comments on the Big Cheeto about her baby really being her oldest daughter's? It makes me physically ill.

I hope the Republicans hit them back and hit them back hard. These people are grotesque, no class, and absolutely vile.

I even donated to McCain today. The O-Bots are freaking, and showing just how vile they are.

These people have lost their damned minds. Not talking about your mother, Sugar, non-political people (I assume) are getting their info from the MSM in small doses. What galls me is the way they (MSM) deliberately play on emotions at the behest of Camp O. They brush aside his considerable negatives, and push forward emotional hot button scolding extended fingers for no other reason than to divert attention. "You're a racist, she sucks, she don't know nothing, she need to stay home with her baby, she a 'ho;" these allegations are coming from the media in one form or another. That's what's sad and despicable. It's no wonder regular folks react the way they do.

I suppose this choice of McCain has finally lifted the veil and as a result, the true nature of the O campaign will be shown on a nationwide, nay, on a global scale.
On another note, Bush swiftboaters attacked McCain vis a vis his daughter, who happened to be born SE Asian, and have dark skin. This tactic was vilified by the "Democrats". Now the shoe is on the other foot. "Democrats" are attacking Palin for a child who happens to have Down Syndrome, a genetic problem.
I guess no party can hold claim to the high road anymore. They are all equally venal, and equally reprehensible in taking advantage of the most vulnerable in society.
What kind of people are these? Are they a new breed, or have they been taken over by outside forces? Gosh, I keep remembering Kevin MCCarthy at the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers - "They're here....."

The good news is if McCain/Palin win, Sarah owns a rifle and knows how to use it. She'll need it to get Joe Biden off the Naval Observatory lawn.

Hey Shug,

I'm so tired of everyone talking about McCain's age, like he's going to drop dead tomorrow. What about this: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1355/is_4_100/ai_76513087

Why is no one pointing this out???

Seriously:

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1355/is_4_100/ai_76513087

The Democrats are petrified by Palin, I think, because she is the REAL DEAL. She makes Barry look like a pompous phony. I don't agree with what has been reported as her stands on abortion and gay marriage, but I am so damned sick and tired of the sexism that was spewed at Hillary and now at Gov. Palin that I am voting for her. I, too, just donated to McCain. Go Sarah!

If every one of us cancer survivors offended by the Obama campaign's snide remarks (McCain's had cancer -- he's a goner for sure) on this issue votes for McCain, we can give Obama the sound defeat he so richly deserves. And on the age issue: (1) I just learned the other day that McCain's mother is still alive, so I'd say there are some longevity genes in play here; and (2) at least McCain doesn't think there are 58 states and can generally remember which city he is in at any given time.

I won't deny that I had decided several weeks ago to definitely vote for McCain, and I am thrilled with his selection of Palin. That she is a woman is just a bonus, though. The most important thing is that she is a person of courage and integrity. When she saw corruption, she fought to stop it and bring the guilty ones to account, even though they were in her own party. When Obama saw corruption, he joined in to enrich himself and his buddies and further his political career. I'll enjoy seeing McCain/Palin victorious in part so that Fitzgerald can finish his job of cleaning up the sewer that is Chicago politics.

I am a PUMA who will not be voting for John McCain BUT I am thrilled that Sarah Palin is running for VP and I definitely share your concerns, Sugar, for the savage attacks she will endure during the next few months from the dnc & obamazoids. They simply do NOT learn, do they. Palin is a gutsy broad who will hopefully mop the floor with them.

The Obama primary/caucus strategy was largely based on personality and not issues. It's not surprising that personal attacks remain the preferred M.O. Besides, Obama's been "ambidextrous" and "flexible" on the issues, so differentiation from McCain on issues is barely possible.

Saw this today via a friend, Sugar, and thought you might get a kick out of it.

Claire McCaskill caught backpeddling on Obama's "experience" because of Palin.

I didn't know anything about Sarah Palin before I watched her speech. She really impressed me. Real. Vital. I might not agree with her, but she made it clear that she believes in the democratic process and working to represent the people who elected her. At this point, Palin and McCain look like the agents of change. The D Party could have run on cleaning up Washington, but it seemed to have slipped their minds. Actually, it seems like a lot of minds are slipping these days, and I got a big laugh out of your Iraqi liberation remark.

Sugar, I just donated to
my first Republican, based
on your suggestion.

I am a firm believer in public
financing, but since Obama
is in the pockets of lobbyists (and with Biden has the
financial markets sewn up),
Johnny Mac needs a little last minute help.

Palin is a stunning choice!

I agree Ana. The thing is, this is what Obama has incited his supporters to. Absolute craziness. I don't want any parts of anything like that. Haven't we all learned a lesson about a another thing that incited folks to such madness? Crack cocaine! Anybody?

WMCB, hilarious:

"And "for the first time in my life, I am proud" of the Republican party."

lansing quaker, they are so DESPERATE! Now, my mother is changing her tune. Before she swore up and down that Obama would win. Now, she says, "I'm pretty sure I know." lmao So pitiful.

Oh Cinie, she[mother] has. lol Don't fret. She'll get over it in the end, but she is one of those crazed Obama supporters who refuses to face facts.

HT, you are right. More of the truth will come out now. The thing is, Obama can't really verbally go into the experience argument too much himself because he doesn't have any--but, believe he will slip. Just you watch and see. Just like he nearly said he didn't think Clarence Thomas had enough experience to be Justice on the SCOTUS. Mark my words.

Yeah, HLR. Joe ain't gonna go easy. lol

Someone? lol Easy.

I'm glad you donated Katherine B. The old guy will need it for what the Obama thugs are going to try. Although I suspect the RNC has him covered at this point...

Exactly Marcy! The Palin selection makes it even easier for me to vote McCain.

windsun, I'm sure the moher lode of the Obama campaign is nearly on fire they are working so hard to "reorganize". They probably already had contingency plans to fight those guys who were on the "short list", but this has thrown them for a total loop. I love it.

Chuck, you are right. Obama has painted himself into a corner and he only has himself to blame.

Thanks lansing quaker, I just linked to them. Great site.

She seems very authentic Annie Oakley. Something Obama definitely is NOT.

Great, CB! We all need to let our frustration be known. I wish I had listed Nancy Pelosi or Howard Dean or hell Obama as the friend who referred me when I made my donation! Dammit! Can you imagine how hard the McCain folks are laughing when they read those things? lmao

Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh Alaska air (to borrow Joe Lieberman's thought) and the muck and misogyny Palin will endure will only backlash on those who produce it.

Now..go see this new Palin video…it's a must see!

It will give you goosebumbs!

“A Long Time Coming” McCain * Palin 08

You made some great points in your last paragraph. Last night I watched Larry King Live, something I rarely do any more. He had a panel of 4 discussing Sarah Palin and her daughter's pregnancy. The pregnancy is the result of bad parenting! I became so angry at what they were saying, I fired off 2 emails to Larry King. They were raking these people over the coals and questioning Palin's moral fitness to run for VP over something called TroooperGate. I don't think Larry King has ever had a panel of 4 discussing Obama's fitness to be President based on his content of character! Someone tell me if LK did vet Obama -- I may have missed the show since I'm more or less boycotting MSM.
