Obama's Birth Certificate and Schwarzenegger
I was talking to a friend of mine today who was a Hillary supporter and I was telling her about the ongoing Obama birth certificate saga. Unbelievably, I had never mentioned it to her before and of course, she hadn't heard about it because the media has not been talking about it. So, I started to break it all down for her and as anyone with half a brain should, she was disgusted. She was shocked and she was livid. She said to me, "Well damn. They can't let him do this and not people like Arnold Schwarzenegger. He says he wants to be president, but they told him that he can't because he's not a natural born citizen. What the hell!?" Her statement was absolutely right.
Forget about Schwarzenegger though. What about all of the other people who are not natural born citizens who would love the chance to lead this nation? Hell, why not let's give Ahmadinejad a chance to run in 2012 if we are opening it up to anyone? I'm sure that seems like a stretch, but if he really is not a natural born citizen, as all information indicates he is not, this is a can of worms that we will not be able to handle.
I heard talk show host Austin Hill say the other day that there is question among historians about whether Chester A. Arthur, our 21st president, was a natural born citizen. This is what one website reports about that drama:
Chester Alan Arthur (he pronounced his middle name al-AN) was, according to the official account, born in Fairfield, Vermont, Oct. 5, 1830, the son of Reverend William and Malvina (Stone) Arthur (his gravestoneconfirms this date). One biographer, Thomas C. Reeves, has concluded that he was born a year earlier—on Oct. 5, 1829— and that Arthur changed the date "no doubt out of simple vanity."1
Changing his year of birth is forgivable (Arthur was well beyond the age requirement for the presidency); but could he have changed his place of birth as well? Arthur P. Hinman thought so. Hinman, a New York lawyer, brought the issue to the attention of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle in a letter early in August, 1880, while Arthur was yet a candidate for the Vice-Presidency. Arthur evidently had flip-flopped on the issue in the past. One article, dated August 13, quotes a leading Republican in a way reminiscent of more recent campaigns: "Why in —— don't the General come out and say where he was born, and put an end to all this mystery."
Hinman first theorized that General Arthur was born "in Belfast or Aberdeen," before his parents emigrated to America. Arthur could easily dismiss this theory, for he had always maintained that his father emigrated at eighteen years of age—before he married and had children.
Deja vu? Anybody? The article further reads:
Hinman pushed on. The following story appeared in the New York Times of Dec. 22, 1880:
MATERIAL FOR A DEMOCRATIC LIE
ST. ALBANS, Vt., Dec. 21.—A stranger arrived here a few days ago, and registered at the American House as A. P. Hinman, of New-York. Since then he has been very busy in the adjoining town of Fairfield, ostensibly collecting materials for a biography of Vice-President-elect Arthur. He has privately stated to leading Democratic citizens, however, that he is employed by the Democratic National Committee to obtain evidence to show that Gen. Arthur is an unnaturalized foreigner. He claims to have discovered that Gen. Arthur was born in Canada, instead of Fairfield; that his name is Chester Allen instead of Chester Abell [sic]; that he was 50 years old in July instead of October, as has been stated, and generally that he is an alien and ineligible to the office of Vice-President.
Are we poised to let yet another foreigner take the reigns of this nation? In this age of technology? They didn't have the capabilities to check these things out back then like we do now and it's disgusting that it is going unchecked by the mainstream media. Pastor Manning is imploring the highest court in this land not to allow it to happen. Check him out below. --SUGAR

Sugar, what does it mean to be a "natural born citizen"?

Sugar - thanks for posting this from Manning! It is very CURIOUS that even FOX have been silent on this constitutional matter - and I also noticed that Hannity and co. ignored the election/caucus fraud in the Dem primaries.
I'm starting to think that the whole electoral process is a fraud (including the media's role in this as propaganda machine for BH0), and nothing the voters decide on matters one whit. BH0 was the pre-selected nominee and Prez for the Powers That Be. And the media - left, right, centre - are just playing their part in pretending there's actually a representative democracy and a 'free press' here.
Very sad times for the USA these days.

Malnurtured Snay, I can answer your question re: natural born citizen. This means someone who was born in U.S. territory, including a military post. The founding fathers put into the Constitution that a Prez must be so because they feared a foreign-born man with foreign sympathies (like an Englishman) might otherwise be elected. It would take an amendment to change this, even though it might not have the same relevance today. Some bloggers seem to think it has something to do with the citizenship of one or both parents, but it doesn't. A Mexican woman, for instance, married to a Russian, could come across the border and give birth to a person who could one day be Prez. The fact that the child was born on American soil makes him/her a natural born citizen of the U.S.

Alan Keyes & a few other Independents in CA have a case pending on the BC. the request it resolved before electors are certified. I believe there are other cases pending too. Amazingly after almost a month after contacting my Senators about the BC I got a response from Mel Martinez, the guy who swam over from Cuba in the 60's. thankfully he's just announced he's not running for another term.
"Dear Ms. gullible loser constituent:
Thank you for contacting me regarding President-Elect Obama's citizenship. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to respond to your concerns.
Like you, I believe that our federal government has the responsibility to make certain that the Constitution of the United States is not compromised. We must fight to uphold our Constitution through our courts and political processes.
Article II of the Constitution provides that "no Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President." The Constitution, however, does not specify how that qualification for office is to be enforced. As you may know, a voter recently raised this issue before a federal court in Pennsylvania. On October 24, 2008, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania released an order in the case of Berg v.Obama.In that case, the plaintiff, Phillip Berg, raised the same issue that your letter raises regarding proof of the President-Elect's birthplace. Through his lawsuit, Mr. Berg sought to compel President-Elect Obama to produce a certified copy of his birth certificate.
The District Court dismissed Mr. Berg's suit and held that the question of Obama's citizenship is not a matter for a court to decide. The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.
Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice - first in the primary elections and again in the general election. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party's nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama's birthplace were raised. The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President.
After he is sworn into office, Mr. Obama will be our nation's President and I intend to bestow upon him the honor and respect due any man who holds that Office. Yet, I am certain that there will be times when I will disagree and oppose President Obama's policies. When that happens, you can be assured that I will pursue vigorously what I believe to be in the best interest of Florida and the nation.
I thank you for sharing your views with me and will keep your concerns in mind. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact me. For more information about issues and activities important to Florida, please sign up for my weekly newsletter at http://martinez.senate.gov.
Sincerely,
Mel Martinez
United States Senator"

Your article states "The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office." This is a very "open" statement and really subjective. If the voters should elect Fidel Castro, due to an influx of pro-Castro supporters who register to vote, does that make him qualified to run for President and receive your "respect and honor for the job"? Please tell me then that the governor from California can run if the voters "qualify" him. This is the 1st time the "voters concerns" are an issue - congressional bodies don't even show up to work most of the time. What is the purpose of the three distinct portions of our "so-called government" of action - Executive (President); Judicial (enforce the law) and Legislative (create laws). How can the courts dismiss their duty to the taxpayers and voting citizens of the US so lightly? I am now more truly concerned than ever before. And YOU are a senator? Please Help us dear God - Oh yes, he's off the money now and probably soon off of public buildings and out of sight, out of mind now - right? When did the voters get to "vote" on this? Can't wait to hear what people feel about this.

Regarding American status. If you are born here - yes you are American. If you are born in Germany and your parents were born in Russia; you are a Russian (not German) citizen. If you are born in Germany and your parents are born in two different countries i.e. Hungary for father and Germany for mother; you are Hungarian. This applies whether you have ever been to the country of your fathers birth. It depends on whether the country practices the principle of being born "of the land" or "of the blood" [there is a Latin phrase with words like tierra or sauguinis, but I'm not up on it, the Latin I mean, and it's been at least 45 years since I took my required constitution test to graduate from 8th grade. If you are the child of a Muslim father, I understand you are forever connected to the father's country. Then we have problems of dual-citizenship; which is meaningless unless the country you live in allows the provision to have dual citizenship. Obama's situation is interesting as his father is Muslim, from Kenya and his mother [controller of the minor] became an Indonesian citizen. As a lawyer, Obama has surely looked into every aspect and as American citizens - we need to make our congressional people accountable and find a way to "deduct their wages" whenever they don't show up for work. If you call in sick - you get docked, so why don't they? Think about it - it is important in our economy to get what we pay for - after all, it is the congressional people who make our decisions and donate our money to bad business operations where management never seems to go without a paycheck. Wake up America - are you getting your moneys worth?

briarhopper,
If you have a russian father and mexican mother and they cross the US border to give birth to a child, that child is a naturalized citizen of the US. The child is not a natural born citizen because the parents are not American citizens. By the way, on Barack Obama's website, it said that he held US/British dual citizenship. Obama's father passed on his British citizenship on to his son because at the time of Obama Jr's birth, Kenya was still a colony of Great Britain. This dual citizenship means that Obama is not natural born and therefore not eligible to be sworn in as the 44th POTUS. We have a real constitutional crisis on our hands here because everything that he does as POTUS would be invalid because he is not a natural born citizen. Even the electors who vote for him would be breaking the law if they voted for a person for president who is not a natural born citizen. And it gets worse because if Chief Justice Roberts gives him the oath of office and he is not a natural born citizen, Roberts is breaking the law.
Obama could avoid all of this by producing his birth certificate and unsealing his college records. The only reason that I believe he does not do this is because he is not a natural born citizen and not eligible to hold the office of the president. So the only thing that I ask of Mr. Obama is to prove all of us wrong and show America the long version of your birth certificate and open your college records.

FYI , when my brother was born we were residing on a miltary base in Germany. Both of my parents are US citizens and my Father was in the Army.
My mother gave birth off the base in a civilian hospital in Germany. When it became time for reasignment, my mother couldn't leave b/c Germany claim my brother was a German citizen. So we were stuck in Germany until the Army helped straighten things out.
Hindsight maybe we should have left him behind...HA!!

I like Arnold. I would not mind seeing him run for prez. I think a Palin/Arnold ticket would be great fun.
I'm a Dem, or rather I was one. I've had it with all the crap they've done during the election.
It's just weird, Arnold is more of progressive then Obama. Arnold came out in support of gay marriage, Obama spoke against it. But which one is labeled the liberal?

People need to realize that as far back as 2006, Democrats have been working on the "natural born citizen requirement" even proposing that it be abolished. Calling it racist and silly. Why?
Why would the Democrats care if they weren't concerned that some Democrats were in fact ineligible to be POTUS?
Nobody knows definitively what "natural born citizen" means. This is for the SCOTUS to decide. The Democrats got us into this position and have been trying to thwart the Constitution.
Even Pravda, Russia's propaganda news, is claiming that should Obama be granted President by the electoral college, than we Americans have elected an illegal president and have no regard for our own "rule of law" standard. So where does the US get off on telling the rest of the world on how to act towards its own citizens.
The Russians are laughing at us. How do you think the Iran, Venezuela, and the terrorists are going to think? We will have no bargaining power because our leader will not be legitimate in their eyes.

Ironic comments from Obama about Justice John Roberts:
Thursday, September 22, 2005
Let me also say that I remain distressed that the White House during this confirmation process, which overall went smoothly, failed to provide critical documents as part of the record that could have
provided us with a better basis to make our judgment with respect to the nomination.
This White House continues to stymie efforts on the part of the Senate to do its job. I hope with the next nominee who comes up for the Supreme Court that the White House recognizes that in fact it is its duty not just to the Senate but to the American people to make sure we can thoroughly and adequately evaluate the record of every single nominee who comes before us.
