Obama Coronation Watch: Hospitals With No Staff?
This just keeps getting better and better ladies and gentlemen. The hospitals in DC have been begging the powers that be to make sure that hospital workers, namely doctors and nurses--you know, the ones who will be able to help folks should some shit break out, can get into the city on
Inauguration Coronation day. You see, the Secret Service, with personnel that let two shoes be launched at the head of our current Commander in Chief, is now trying to make sure that they dot all t's and cross all i's (not a mistake) by closing an unprecedented number of roads in the city as a security measure. Problem is, many doctors, nurses and such live in Virginia and currently, there isn't a way into the city on Inaugural day through VA. All traffic is being routed through Maryland. It'll be like childbirth for all of those cars to get through such a tight spot and much in the same way some women endure hours and hours on end of labor......yeah. I'm sure the Secret Service doesn't want to get egg on its face again after shoe-gate, but man, hospital workers? WUSA 9 reports:
9NEWS NOW has learned frustrated leaders of DC hospitals still don't know how they are going to get their workers into DC on Inauguration Day.
Virginia Congressman Jim Moran brought the hospitals, the U.S. Secret Service and other officials into his office Tuesday afternoon in search of a solution.Congressman Moran says the current plan is "not acceptable" because it doesn't account for the hospital employees, a crucial part of the emergency medical system. DC Hospital Association President Robert Malson wants employees to have access to I-395 and I-66 into the District.
Virginia State Police have repeatedly said that can not happen because adding private vehicles to the restricted roadways would be too complicated. Malson is optimistic the policy will change.
He's more optimistic than I am. Remember, not one but two shoes thrown at Bush. --SUGAR

I can see how this is gonna shake out already. The Secret Service is going to clear hospital workers to spend the night at work. Then, it'll be up to the hospitals and health care facilities to house them. Bet that memo's already been drawn up. Of course, nobody's going to be able to leave when their shift is up, either.

Cinie, you are right! It's gonna be like jail for hospital workers, who are so used to sacrificing their time anyway, so why not just keep 'em there for the whole frickin week while they are at it? My mom-in-law, a retired hospital nurse, is just livid over this snafu and forced triple load put upon hospital workers because that means nurses especially feel the brunt of it all. It's sympathy anger because she lives in the Midwest, but the nurses here get the brunt when anticipated blizzards are forthcoming.
Did ya'll see that Bush has declared DC a "state of emergency" because of the anticipated security problems on coronation day to hold the biggest party of all time?
I can't frickin believe this! Why are we entering an era of hope (ahem) by instituting the worse security scenario and most expensive inaug EVER?
You don't have a party at your house when you have no money...

People, People, Didn't you get the decree?
In the name of all hope and change, it has been decreed that no one, I repeat, NO ONE, may fall ill or become injured on the day that The Great One (TM) ascends to the throne.
Keep up the good work, Sugar. I never thought about how the secret service let 2 shoes get thrown at good old Georgie. Maybe they're as tired of him as we are!

so much to do about nothing. you'd think we elected a black man or something.
I liked the way Hillary reminded everybody of his white mother yesterday.

Yes, my kids were all excited about the new dog until they found out that the dog chewed up their toys and knocked them down a lot. I always felt that they were happy the dog just didn't shit on them. That's how I feel about BO. Just hope he does'nt shit on us.

Hey, this is really amazing...more to add to the picture of what might happen. The D.C. police and various groups are having fits... Sen. Feinstein and another Senator (a Repug) got the initial plan to leave bars open all night backed down by 1 hour...but one area is esp. volatile (Adams Morgan)... The trains stop running an hour before the bars are supposed to close...????????
The info is here...It's a damned MESS!!!!!!
